Teleconverters

Teleconverters are not only lens extensions, but also image-magnifiers. With the teleconverter, images as normally seen in the camera lens are multiplied by the factor designation of the particular teleconverter (1.4x, 1.5x, 1.7x and 2x) so that details are expounded and sharpened. This is so photographers need not get right up on top of the object or person being shot. They are appended to the regular lenses and ultimately enhance performance to bring about more impressive visual results.

Two types of tele converters exist—the basic generic make and the matched design. Generic teleconverters are likely the most common because they can work with most if not all models. These are designed to adapt to the general needs of most camera lenses. The Vivitar tele converter and the Tamron teleconverter are two fine examples of the generic make, but since generic accommodate most brands, the performance of the Nikon teleconverter and Panasonic teleconverter is much more appealing. With the generic, a clearance of about 8 or 9 mm spans from the camera lens mount to the glass, causing a flushing of the 1st element and allowing light rays to stretch farther. The matched teleconverter, on the other hand, such as the Sigma teleconverter, is specialized for certain camera brands or types of lenses. These tend to work better for those particular lenses, but since this type of teleconverter is specifically designed, they are likely to be more expensive. The distance spanning from the 1st element to the location of the camera lens mount is abridged and the light rays limited and abrupt. The lenses of these particular camera models are designed to compensate that peculiarity, and the teleconverter meant for these are designed in like manner, to accompany the camera lenses to bring about the desired effect, only magnified.

Reviews of teleconverters are available all over the Internet to provide specifications and detail information on each of item. Tamron teleconverter reviews, for instance, provide the camera types on which the generic tele converter works, and how the teleconverter enhances performance. Knowing the type of camera model one owns and comparing every available teleconverter design will make choosing the right item easier for those who want to improve the results of their camera systems.

Camera teleconverters are easy to use if one knows her or his camera and how it works as a particular (and, yes, even devices can exhibit their own individual idiosyncratic forms of behavior). When the right teleconverter is applied to the right camera lens, the focus will always be sharp and clear.
